Jania Aubakirova graduated from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and completed a postgraduate program in piano performance under the guidance of Professor Lev Vlassenko. 

In 1983, she won the Grand Prix at the Marguerite Long and Jacques Thibaud International Piano Competition, along with a special prize for the Best Performance of Works by Contemporary French Composers. In 1985, she received the Grand Prix at the International Chamber Ensemble Competition held as part of the same festival. 

Throughout her career, Jania Aubakirova has collaborated with many renowned musicians and ensembles, including Martha Argerich, Mikhail Pletnev, Valery Gergiev, David Geringas, Alexander Sladkovsky, Alexander Vedernikov, Denis Shapovalov, Marat Bisengaliev, Alexander Trostyansky, Christophe Mangou, the Danel Quartet, the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra, the Russian National Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Symphony Orchestra of India, the English Chamber Orchestra, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, among others. 

She regularly performs with leading orchestras in Kazakhstan and has appeared in prestigious concert halls across France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Russia, Poland, Italy, the USA, Israel, Greece, and Hungary. Her notable performances have taken place at venues such as Salle Pleyel, Salle Gaveau, Salle Alfred Cortot, Sapporo Concert Hall, the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Slovak Philharmonic, Barbican Hall, Wigmore Hall, Seoul Arts Center, VigadĂł Hall, Moscow International House of Music, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Hall, Konzerthaus Berlin, Berliner Philharmonie, the Kennedy Center, and Carnegie Hall. 

For over two decades, Jania Aubakirova served as the rector of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory — Kazakhstan’s leading institution for higher music education. She has initiated numerous cultural and educational projects, including the Jania Aubakirova Author School, “Сlassica” Music Agency, the Almaty International Piano Competition, and “Radio Classic” — the first classical music radio station in Central Asia. She has also led many large scale international projects both in Kazakhstan and abroad. 

Her achievements in pedagogy have received international acclaim, and she is frequently invited to give masterclasses and individual lessons to young pianists around the world. 

Jania Aubakirova is a People’s Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan and a laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan. She has been awarded the title of Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters of France, the Gustav Mahler Award from the European Union of Arts, the Holder of II-degree Order of Catherine the Great, Recipient of Polish honors, including the Medal for Distinguished Service to Polish Culture and the Gold Cross of Merit awarded by the President of Poland. She is also a Steinway Artist and holds the title of Professor.
